A 4,500-square-foot, three-story, wood- and steel-frame, wood- and stucco-clad, built-up-roof, three-bedroom home with a two-bedroom tenant apartment and subterranean garage.

The clients revered the delicately scaled imagery of homes in eastern seacoast villages but wished to fully develop the allowable building envelope. To minimize the bulk, the structure reads as a composition of smaller, connected buildings. One is a slender stucco form serving as a buffer from nearby traffic and accommodating the serviced spaces—all arranged under a long barrel vault punctuated by skylights. A collection of liberally glazed, wood-clad structures abuts this stucco spine and houses the main rooms while providing ocean views.
