Architects’ Studio in Venice

Architects’ Studio at the Beach
Venice, California

A 1,000-square-foot, one-story-and-mezzanine, steel-frame, gypsum-board-clad, tenant-improvement interiors project.

A growing architectural firm (mine!) needed more space. The unimproved shell had an industrial aesthetic: exposed structural components and electrical- and mechanical systems. The existing hard-edged setting is left untouched with new, crisply finished, geometric objects within. These objects, seeming haphazard in their placement, are actually carefully configured to maximize the space, accommodating file cabinets, displays, cabinetry, and other fixtures.
